Why we built Rock8Cloud

May 20, 2026 · 4 min read · Rock8Cloud

AI can build your app in an afternoon. Then you lose a week getting it online.

We’re a software house. For ten years, we’ve run the infrastructure behind serious production systems in Central Europe - a health insurer serving 150,000+ people, one of the country’s biggest e-shops, and theater ticketing that spikes to 400 requests a second the moment seats go on sale.

High traffic, high stakes, zero excuses. That’s our day job.

And we did it all on hardware we provisioned ourselves - real, dedicated machines, not a stack of rented services. Owning it top to bottom is what kept it secure, private, and predictably priced.

Story time — why we built Rock8Cloud

The same DevOps work, over and over#

We’re always spinning up new things - client apps, internal MVPs, quick proofs of concept. AI only poured fuel on that: we ship more now than ever. But getting each one online? That part didn’t change at all.

Before anyone could even see a staging link, we did the same boring setup every single time: CI/CD, build pipelines, preview deploys, SSL, logging, databases, rollbacks.

None of it was the actual app. All of it was in the way. And we do this for a living - even we found the repetition exhausting. We didn’t need another cloud vendor. We needed a way to skip the “DevOps tax” entirely.

So we took our decade of infrastructure experience and created Rock8Cloud - the platform we always wished we had.

How it works#

Build your app however you’re used to - it just needs to be containerizable, which is best practice anyway. Rock8Cloud takes it from there and runs it, with everything you used to wire up by hand already done:

  • Push to deploy - push to main, you’re live. No pipelines to babysit.
  • A preview for every PR - each pull request ships to its own live URL.
  • One-click data - Postgres, Redis (Dragonfly), and S3, connected on first boot.
  • When things break - live logs in your browser, scaling on a slider, one-click rollback.

AI built in, not bolted on#

We didn’t bolt an “AI” badge on for show. AI runs in two places, only where it earns its keep:

On the platform - agentic workflows

Open a pull request and the workflows you’ve switched on go to work:

  • Code review - flags bugs, security holes, and risky changes before they ship.
  • Changelogs - written automatically from your commits.
  • A sandbox agent - takes a task, builds it in isolation, and hands you back a ready-to-review PR.

We keep adding more - all running quietly, like a helpful mid-level developer on your shoulder.

In your editor - your own coding agent

A native MCP server, built right into Rock8Cloud. If you use an agent like Cursor or Windsurf, it can read your deployment logs, inspect container status, and debug live infrastructure - without leaving your editor. You command your cloud the same way you write code.

No vendor lock-in, no traps#

Most modern apps are stitched together from five SaaS vendors - one for hosting, one for the database, one for logs, one for caching, one for queues. Five dashboards, five bills, five traps.

But most apps don’t need five separate vendors for that. They need a database, a cache or queue, and somewhere to store files - and we give you all of it on open, standard tech: Postgres, Redis, and S3, ready on first boot.

Build in any language you like - TypeScript, Java, Kotlin, Go. If it runs in a container, it runs on Rock8Cloud.

Your app runs on our managed cloud - in EU-sovereign data centers in Germany (we build Rock8Cloud from Czechia).

Outgrow it, or need your data on your own servers for compliance? On our Enterprise plan we’ll help you run Rock8Cloud on your own infrastructure - on-prem or in your private cloud - same developer experience. We’d rather earn your business every month than lock you in.

Why your bill never moves#

Because you shouldn’t overpay for an app that’s barely getting traffic yet - and because in the age of AI agents, per-seat pricing makes no sense when half your “team” might be agents anyway.

One flat price per organization. €10 a month to start. Everyone included.

  • No per-request or per-CPU billing - ever.
  • Generous build and AI limits - if you hit them, we tell you. No silent overages.
  • The same price whether you have 10 visitors or 10,000.

We spent ten years keeping other people’s apps online. This is the tool we wish we’d had the whole time. It’s already running 100+ apps and 800+ deploys in beta.

You build it. We’ll keep it online.
